Magic Plays Pool!

Damien plays pool, and Magic sits on the table till he can no longer stand the balls bouncing off him. Then he tries to catch them as Damien sinks them!

Happy 6th Purrday Greebo

Today my beautiful, sleek, talkative, head-bumping Greebo is 6 years old!
Greebo, who is always the civilised one.
Who seems to look down on frivolity unless it involves his favourite catnip-stuffed-fish.

Who always seems to be a grownup.
Who looks on whilst Taxi and Magic run around and wrestle like lunatics.
Who will occasionally play a game of tag with Magic, or wrestle with Taxi a little.

Who is definitely the alpha-male in this feline household.
Who loves to lie on top of things.

Who ignored me for months after I dared bring Taxi the kitten home with me.
Who was clever enough to learn to open doors and closets- and teach Taxi to do the same.

Happy purrday my darling Greebo, my sweet beebalobees, my precious pudding tat!

Magic's Favourite Pozzie...

He just loves a towel on the floor! Even if its damp- like this one at the kitchen door, which leaks when it rains- he'll curl up on it!
Anywhere there's a towel on the floor, Magic will curl up on it.

Taxi Rambling

Last night, Taxi decided things were too dull around here and he wanted to liven it up a little.

At about 10pm, we were already drifting off to sleep- lights off an everything- when I realised Greebo was being very vocal, and very restless.
He talks a lot, but he doesn't usually just walk around meowing. He was up the stairs and down the stairs, on the balcony outside my bedroom (where the door is almost always open for them) and inside again.
I knew something was up, so I got up and went to see what he was moaning about. He was on the balcony wall outside my bedroom, meowing, and came to the door when I asked him what was up, then looked down over the side of the wall again.
I realised one of the cats may be outside as I couldn't see Magic or Taxi, so I went looking for them.
Greebo followed me down the stairs, and then Magic appeared. Both of them headed for the doors and windows downstairs so I knew Taxi was out.
I figured it had happened when my son had had his last smoke and locked up for the night.
It took us a few minutes, but we found him and he slunk back in through the front door.

Then at about 4:40AM, I heard two loud noises but I was half asleep... then I realised Greebo was again walking in and out of my bedroom vocalising like mad.
I just knew Taxi was outside again, and the noise I'd heard was his trying to open the front door ('coz he does that).
When I let him in again, I did a quick tour of the house and found no less than TWO windows that were wide open!
I'm sure it was the maid, for whatever reason, and I'm more than a little miffed at her.

Needless to say I didn't sleep too well, and all the cats have been inside and accounted for since I closed the windows.

Magic Is A Year Old...

Happy 1st purrday Magic!

This sheepskin "donut" was bought for him when we found him, and he and Greebo and Taxi now all share it. It is a great show of how he has grown, and on the picture of him as a tiny baby, its scrunched up a little inside a desk alcove!
Magic cat, you provide all of us with endless entertainment, and you certainly keep your two housemates on their toes!
You are almost too beautiful to be a tomcat, and we are all so glad we found you!

Magic Update

Magic does indeed have a bladder infection- but not the type they're born with (which implies life-long special diet to help with the chemical imbalance) and its not crystals.
He's now got Synulox and Cystaid tablets, which I have to give him twice a day, and we'll get the test results from the urine samples in about 5 days time. The vet also gave him a pain killer as his bladder infection made it very painful for him to have a wee.
He was very unhappy for be left at the vet all day long, but he did eat a little bit of chicken which is always a good sign.
The vet also recommended he have a lot of wet food for a few days because it has a lot of water in it.
When he came home he ate a big bowl of wet meat!
His travel box also fascinated Greebo and Taxi for quite a while after he came home.

Onto nicer things. I found this picture on icanhascheezburger!
Does it not look like it could be Taxi and Magic!?!??!
And here's Taxi and Magic. They're very close.

Magic Is At The Vet...

The last couple of days Magic's ears have been a tad warm, and on Wednesday morning he pee'd on my bed! This is highly unusual, and with indoor cats- avoiding the litter box is usually a sign that it hurts to pee and they associate the litterbox with that pain.
On Thursday afternoon I took him to the vet, after watching him try to have a wee in the litterbox for well over 5 minutes... round and round in circles, scratch scratch, round in a circle, scratch, crouch, scratch, round in a circle... poor baby.
Anyhoodle, Magic goes back to the vet today so they can try and get a urine sample (because he and Greebo and Taxi all use the same litterbox I can't get a urine sample at home).
Thankfully the vet says she doubts its the infection associated with crystals because all our boys eat only Royal Canin Exigent and the crystals are associated with a poor diet. She also doubts its indicative of FeLV or FIV because neither of them present with bladder problems first...
There are two other infections- one from bacteria and one he may have been born with- and once she has a sample she'll test and let me know.

Happy 5th Purrday Taxi

My precious pudding, my snickerdoodle, who loves to be near me at all times... I can't imagine my life and my home without you in it.
I love how you snuggle on my bed, and roll around when I croon at you and cuddle you. I love how you squeak softly at me, and sometimes open your mouth without making a sound 'coz you don't really have a voice.

I promise, my precious Taxi, to look after you to the best of my ability, and to spare no expense when it comes to treating your FeLV. To make sure you are eating and drinking water. To provide little snacky things that you are able to swallow whole since you have no teeth anymore. I promise to give you all the love and snuggles you could possibly want.

The Boys...

Magic... who is almost a year old now!
The always camera-shy Greebo...
Look how Magic has learnt to "sit"!!!
Taxi, on the balcony outside my bedroom!

I do love my precious boys so much... Taxi still goes wherever I go. If I'm in the bathroom, he'll open the door and come in after me. If I'm in the bedroom he's either curled up in the donut, asleep on my bed, or on the balcony. As soon as I go downstairs he's behind me. If I'm cooking, he's on the couch watching me or on the kitchen floor.

Magic loves the couches. He'll snuggle with Taxi mostly (he and Greebo are not so close) but he does love to lounge on the couches. And he loves the balcony outside my bedroom. In fact, all three cats will follow me upstairs when I get home in the evening and wait at the sliding door for me to open it for them.

Greebo is Damien's cat. He sleeps with Damien and cuddles on the couch with Damien. He comes downstairs with me in the morning for his breakfast, but its very seldom that we'll find him sleeping on our bed. He also loves the balcony like Taxi and Magic. He's not mad about Magic though... they will play running games occasionally, but Greebo only really loves Taxi.

Its quite incredible to watch them interact.

My Three Boys...

I can hardly believe how much Magic has grown... but seeing the three of them together like this, he's almost the same size as Greebo and Taxi.
Our precious baby Magic is in the middle, in the red collar... He's 10 months old already!

Is Magic Not The Cutest Kitten On The Planet!!?!??

A blog friend of mine added the caption to this piture and its too sweet!
Here's the silly narna, actually asleep sitting up- resting his cheek on my laptop screen!

Here's the same narna- playing silly buggers on the couch!
And here he is again- in my picnic basket. It has a little square hole in the lid for a wine bottle- and Magic fits through the hole perfectly!

Great Hunter, Greebo

I have yet to get a picture- but my precious Greebo is quite the mighty stalker...
And no, you're not confused, my furbabies still do not go outside and are purely indoor cats.
Greebo hunts my knucklehead's socks.
I didn't know it, but apparently when cats catch something they talk and meow whilst they carry it around, sorta calling attention to the fact that they have succeeded in their predatory pursuits.
Greebo fetches socks- singly or in balls- from the knucklehead's closet and then carries them down the passage, calling and yowling with a mouthful of cotton-polyester blend.
Its too funny!
Then he drops the socks in the passage outside our bedrooms and walks up and down the passage, or sits on the staircase calling and meowing a little.
I am going to try and see if I can get a picture of him "sneaking" out of the knucklehead's room with socks in his mouth!

Magic Isn't A "She"!!!

She went to the vet to be spayed because she's almost 7 months old and I didn't want her going into oestrus before she was "fixed".
And when I fetched her, the vet had neutered my male kitten!
I shoulda suspected when Magic (luckily we won't have to change his name) took such a shine to the TV remote!

My Precious Furbabies...

Taxi, on their balcony. This is the only "outside" access they have, and they love it. They get to spend some time in the sun, they don't get fleas, and they can't get lost or hurt by accident!
Baby Magic surveying the balcony before heading out. It didn't take her long to get out there at all, I just kept the door shut till I felt she was big enough to be able to judge the height of the balcony and not fall off.

An almost 6 month old Magic in my cupboard!!!
Greebo, on the balcony. He took a long time to go out onto the balcony- much longer than Taxi did- but now he loves it too!
I often leave the sliding door open overnight and they come in in the morning when I call them so that I can close the door.

Posted very low on a refrigerator door:

Attention Dogs and Cats

The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw underthe edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.

Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:
(1) They live here. You don't.
(2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.
(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
(4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they
(1) eat less,
(2) don't ask for money all the time,
(3) are easier to train,
(4) normally come when called,
(5) never ask to drive the car,
(6) don't hang out with drug-using people
(7) don't smoke or drink,
(8) don't want to wear your clothes,
(9) don't have to buy the latest fashions,
(10) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and
(11) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children
